Rubber around headlights giving off a burning smell and are sticky. Why???

Rubber around headlights giving off a burning smell and are sticky. Rubber comes off on my fingers. Any idea why? Thanks!

There's a TSB for headlight wiring. Could be shorting out and causing the heat/burning. Take it to a dealer fast. There's been a couple reports of A6's catching fire due to the short.
