Default Secondary Air Pump

On a 2000 A-6 2.7 Twin Turbo, where is this pump located?
Is it a home mechanic remove and replace job or does it require special tools and knowledge.
Failed my state inspection today and was told this is the reason
Codes P1411 & P1423 Big job, little job??
Thank you for any input
Kurt

Rear center of the motor. Easy enough removal and replacement. IIRC it is held in with three allen bolts. Make sure to inspect all the air lines running to and from it to make sure you don't have a cracked line.

Default Secondary Air Pump

Bob,
Thank you for your reply.
Is it accessed from the top of the motor or from underneath.
Before I received your reply, I had removed the plastic engine covers and looked around the top and did not see anything that resembled a pump.
I will look again as perhaps I saw it and didn't knowit.
I don't really know what it looks like so that makes it a little difficult.; I am more famililiar with American cars and not well versed with German autos.
Thnak you for your help
Kurt

BTW, secondary air injection pump related codes are usually effects of vacuum leaks. But not always...

This is a low flow MIL on both banks. Check the pump fuse, check the vacuum hoses, check the hose from the pump to the combo valve.

The pump is located on the top of the engine near the back of the intake it sits straight down in slightly towards the drivers side of the intake it is hard to see unless you know what your looking for.
