Snow - if you just want cheap transportation to get you from point A to point B, go find a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, either one will treat you well with proper maintenance. I had a 1992 Honda Accord I bought with 168k and drove until 268k with nothing more than oil changes, tires, brakes, and a clutch (1st clutch replacement at 240k) and it was still running great when I sold it. I moved to an area that requires all wheel drive, so I changed over from Hondas/Acuras to Audis. If you decide to get the Audi though, be prepared, once you go Audi it's hard if not impossible to go back. I recently had a rental car when a coil pack went bad on my 1997 A4 (1.8T 5spd 110k) I had to order the part (saved $120 buying 4 coilpacks online). The rental was a 2011 Honda Accord 4cyl with less than 10k on it. After 1 day driving the rental I sorely missed my Audi. Compared to my 14 yr old A4 the Accord felt slow, harsh riding, poor handling, and had a cheap feeling interior with poor ergonomics. Right now I have 3 Audis and have found that the cost of ownership is not high, but a little more than my Accord and Acuras (TL and CL) of years past.

Yes there is some expense involved with the maintenance of an Audi (I own a 1998 A-6), however it is not any more then any other vehicle. Perhaps the parts are a little more expensive but thats about it.

Audi will cost the same in repairs as a Chevy K1500 will cost you in fuel.

I like my cars but they have me out in the garage all the time.

But I like it, gets me away from the nag

little music, couple beers...
