Should I hear the valves?
I run synthetic and I replaced the oil in the less then 500 miles ago at which time I did run some of that foam through the crank and drove through the mountains. As far as hearing sensitivity, I am very very sensitive to what sounds my car is making. I can't say that I am desperately worried about it, I've been over that engine 1000 times and everything is happy.
Maybe its just me being bored and wishing I had a car project. I call it automotive hypochondriasis... my honda turned out to be much less work than I was expecting (maybe hoping a tiny bit) and now I'm going crazy.

yes seafoam mate, as opposed to that instant structure foam that keeps the honda running. I do have an old back in the mountains. Its a 68 powerwagon. That is one of the most dependable trucks I've ever owned! It kept a battery for 20 years once!
OK huffy - It's time to get ear plugs or turn the radio up.
When cars get older it sometimes takes a few minutes for the lifters to pump up... It can be due to wear or sometimes crap getting stuck in the lifers or passages.
If you seafoamed you might have knocked a bunch of crap loose and big pieces could have started to plug the lifters.. like a clot causing a stroke. Hell I've seen people switch to high detergent oil and have that problem. In extreme cases the crap can plug up passages to the cam bearings and even the rod bearings but that is IN EXTREME CASES and seldom happens in new motors.
If the ticking is new change to oil and filter again and hope for the best - if it was there before you did the seafoam - the Audi is just getting old.
