smokey diesel !
hi everyone, ive just bought a 99 A6 avant, it drives beautifully, even tho its done 190K ! its the 2.5 TDI. my problem is after a run, when i stop for traffic, lights, etc., i get a cloud of smoke from the exhaust ? ive been told this could be blocked breathers? can anyone offer any advice please?
Blue smoke means you're burning oil or injection timing is incorrectly set
Grey smoke means the injection timing is incorrectly set or something other than diesel has been added to the the fuel tank.

if the injector timing was out the car would not run properly ? it drives like new? ive now been told theres a crankcase breather filter behind the turbo housing that could be blocked?
IT IS YOUR BREATHER I HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH MY A6 2.5 TDI. IF YOU OPEN YOUR OIL FILLING CAP ON THE ENGINE WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED IF THERE IS PRESSURE IN THE ENGINE IT WILL BLOW OIL OUT OF THE TURBO IN TO EXHAUST ITS WHEN YOU GET BLUE AND WHITE SMOKE. THE BREATHER IS BETWEEN THE TURBO AND INJECTOR PUMP IT COSTS £40.00 FROM AUDI DEALERS CHANGE IT.
