Something scratching my window
Hey guys, I just noticed today that on the drivers side window there was some sort of sound coming from it as it went up and down. As I soon learned, the sound was the sound of something scratching my window as I put it up and down. I'm not sure what could be in there but I have a thin long scratch in my window now.
How hard is it to get something out of there and what kind of tool should I use?

are you sure is actually scratching it? my pass window is noisy, makes a grinding sound but it no longer makes marks. It used to leave two parallel marks up the window, looked like scratches. I was worried it would mess up my tint when I got it but I tried cleaning the inside of the window and it came right off, it was just grease.

All:
The passenger side glass on my 2008 A4 has ACTUAL scratches on the outside.
QUESTIONS:
1. Are most people getting the scratches on the OUTSIDE or on the INSIDE?
2. On which side(s) of the door glass does any mechanism touch the glass?
Here's why I ask:
I took my car in for this, and Audi of Rockville, MD claims there are no mechanical devices that touch the outside of the window that could cause scratches of any kind, reinforcing their "debris" theory. They said they "blew it out" and there's no debris in there now.
HBL Audi of Tysons told me this is "very rare"...is that true? Seems like a lot of people are finding this.

It shouldn't be any mechanical device/part that comes in contact with the glass itself, exactly as the dealer stated.
However, if your plastic guide(s) is (are) broken and the cable doesn't glide through its channel (jumped over), it is the possibility that it may rub against the window.
On older models, the regulator attaches to the window via a big plastic retainer/fastner:
.
On newer models, the regulator attaches to the window via 2 small plastic "guides":
You be your own judge as far as what mechanical part can rub against the glass.
