RE: squeeking while i turn the wheel? help
This seems to be a common problem. I have the same problem and another. Mine mostly does it when sitting still and I have to turn the wheel all the way (its turning limit) and it just squeals. I hate it!! And I have the same problem as you sometimes, not always. I think I heard it might be the tie rod bushings? or maybe the ball joints. The ball joints cost about $200 each. Try spraying some WD-40 in there and get it all lubed up first. See if it still makes noise. If so, get it checked out. I will be doing something about mine as well. I would also appreciate any suggestions as well.

The worst part is it just started last night. I didnt hit anything at all. It just started. I just went outside not 20 minutes ago, started the car and turned the wheel, sure enough same thing. I hope its not ball joints. I have a good buddy of mine that knows cars better then me. I will have him take a look at in within the next couple of days.

I hope its not either!!! I hope its nothing worse either though. If you have someone, let them check it out. other places will always never be as reliable and cost $$$. I also need new brake pads so mine is a squeaking mess!! Let me know what you find.

Does it keep squealing once you stop moving the steering wheel while its cranked to one side?....if so it is probably bearings in the power steering pump....you're not supposed to leave the steering wheel fully turned for too long cause it burns out the pump. i'm not an audi expert or anything but my old corolla used to do this...just a suggestion.

Yes I think it might do that but very very faintly. I don't hold it long but whenever I get to it all the way it does this loud squealing. Good suggetion and tip too, i didnt know that.

check your PS fluid level, that sound is most likely the pump performing at over a maximum level. Sometimes you will find that your PS fluid level is down just slightly and it will have a great effect on the pump. Trick here is to fill above the noted max fill line on the resevoire. Not alot but definitely over. Try this and let me know if the noise stops. Mine did I hope yours does too

Ok I will do that, but I dont have any PS fluid. A friend of mine that also has an Audi told me its a special mineral solution or something. Do the Audis require a certain PS fluid or does he just get the best for his car b/c he is obsessed?? I remember that it was a german brand and not just some any old company. any ideas?
