SRS Airbag light due to R/R Seat Belt
Hi,
I've got a 2000 A6 Avant with 145K that has an intermittent problem with the R/R Seat Belt sensor. It is triggered by my flipping the seat down and up again. My shop analyzed it once for $49 and said they found a 01212 code, which pointed to the R/R seat belt sensor.
I'm trying to avoid a medium-sized repair bill for a nuisance problem, so had a couple of questions:
- If I leave it alone and don't trigger it by flipping the seat, will the code clear on its own after awhile? If not, is there a way to clear it without specialized equipment (I only have an OBDII probe)?
- While the SRS light is on, if this was the only cause, will the airbag system still work properly?
Thanks!

Thought I'd share the following in case it helps someone else in the future:
- Looks like their is a TSB about this code. Here is one archived thread:
http://forums.audiworld.com/archive/...t-2777796.html
TSB 69-06-05 says "Airbag warning light illuminates due to sporadic fault entry" and the solution is downloading new Airbag Control Module software.
- I'm a newbie and don't really know anything about VAG-COMs, but found a super low price software/cable ($36, no tax, no shipping) that I'm hoping can reset this DTC - we'll see:
http://www.gadgettown.com/Vagcom-VAG...USB-Cable.html
Since it only seems to trigger when I put the right rear seat down I may just reset it with this software when it triggers as the least-cost solution.
