Stereo draining battery!
Hello,
Another strange problem with my A6. Went to start it this morning and found the battery completely dead. I mean "completely" dead!
I hooked up a jump box and hit the power button on the box and loud popping feedback noise coming from rear speakers. I removed the fuse for the stereo, number 27 if I remember right, the noise when I give it power is now gone.
Its been raining a lot lately and I parked the car with the nose up in our sloped driveway, so the front of the car is elevated. About 20 degrees. Normally I park it the other way, facing down the driveway.
I'm thinking that water has gotten in somewhere and has found either the stereo or amp or speakers or something.
Has anyone run across this problem before? I'm charging the battery now and will see if everything else works in a little while. Would be great to get a little feedback as to where to start tearing this thing apart.
Any info from you guys would be much appreciated.
Thanks very much!
Mm
Update!
I went looking for the water and found it wet in the trunk. On the right side there is a little door you can remove that opens into a cubby. In there is a black plastic box and I'm not sure what it is but probably something to do with the stereo. Its dripping water from a seam as if its full of water. I'm going to see about getting it out of there and drying it out whatever it is.
Car seems to run fine with the stereo fuse removed. Just no stereo. Sucks as I just bought a new head unit
