Strange noise While driving
Hey guys i'm a new member i just got a used 1998 Audi A6 2.8 quattro, rite off the bat i have a problem, when i start driving starting at about 30 MPH i start to hear a grinding/slash wind up type noise (don't know if that makes any sense) the noise is speed sensetive so when the car slows down the noise slows down until i come to a stop. someone has told me it sounds like it could be a bad axle or a wheel bearing. any ideas? thanks for the help in advance guys.

Well have you pursued the fact that it could be a wheel bearing or bad axle? I would say the same thing if you asked me. Usually wheel bearings are more of a humming sound; being louder with the severity of the damage, however.
Well, I figured out my issue...I forgot to tighten the lug nuts all the way on the wheel. I figured it out today when i went to jack the car up and pull off the wheel. The wheel started pulling inward as the car went up so i figured the stress from that caused my noise. Drove it all the way home and sure enough, that was the issue. Good thing I don't have to take the freeway to work...
