Default Suggestions needed: buying a 04 Audi A6 Quattro V6 3.0L

Hi All,
I am thinking about buying a 2004 A6 V6 3.0L Quatro with 131,000 miles on it, price is 7k. The owner replaced left front CV joint but not the timing belt. Should I avoid it? Thanks!

You are certainly living on borrowed time if this is the original TB. More troubling - what other maintenance did they ignore? I did not check KBB, but unless the price reflects the $1500-2000 for the TB (at a dealer), then I would pass. I would suspect it needs all filters replaced, the brake fluid flushed, spark plugs, and front/rear differential fluid replacement.

Suggest you get it inspected by someone who knows Audi and then immediately do the TB after buying it.

PS - The mileage does not bother me as much as maintenance not being done. These engines can last a long time if they are properly maintained.

@ppgoal
Thanks for the comment! I guess it's safer to avoid this one unless I can get it for $6,000

the title says 2004 3.0l and your details say 2006 3.2? which is it?
if you are getting the 2006 3.2 for 7k that is a STEAL! dont let it go away if the title is clear go for it. if salvage, leave.

if its the 3.2 the timing belt does not need to be replaced because im most certain the 3.2 uses a cam chain.

the 3.0 uses a cam belt which need to be replaced asap and have 1700 for the dealer to take ready. or a 1000 for a private mechanic to take.
