Suspension Issues
Hello, I am new to this forum. My mom owns a 2001 Audi A6- 4.2 with 45k miles. I recently drove it and I was surprised how "loose" the car felt. The car seems to wander and the steering has an inch or so of play in it which makes it difficult to correct. Furthermore, it does not feel as stable as it should when switching lanes on the highway.
I am going to replace the Pirelli's with a new set of tires but I am wondering if I should be doing anything more (allignment, bushings, etc.) We bought the car used with 32k on it and I do not know if the car is just built that way. (like I said it is my mom's).
Any advice you can give will be appreciated.
Regards,

RE: Suspension Issues
Hi there
I have the same car it's an A6 2.4 with a vary matic gearbox (I think thats what its called) anyway its so smooth with no gears just a varible chain drive.
When I got the car I felt the same as you, my old car was a 12 year old Cavalier and I found the steering in the Audi was not as tight as i though it would be and I found it was wandering more that my old car. Anyway it didn't take long to get used to it.
The other big issue I have is with the sports suspention it is just too hard and i will never get used to that.
I also have Pirelli's and my car had only done 18000 miles when I got it.
Hope that helps
Regards Steve
