Default Tax Money upgrades

So its that time of year again, and I am trying to figure out how i should spend my tax returns. I plan on making a few extra payments on the car but with the excess money i was thinking of doing two different things, either wheels and tvs, or chip and diverter valves. I do have a few questions about my second option... First off, if and when i do chip my car, which is the the better option, GIAC or the other one which i believe is APR.. Also is it 100% neccessary to upgrade to an aftermarket diverter valve, thats another 400$ (I have a 2001 A6 2.7t so i will need two, right?)
Now if i could find a good deal on the chip and/or i dont need diverter valves i will probaly buy wheels also making my decision for me, As of right now though there is only one already flashed ecu on audiworld selling for 600 i believe so that plus wheels is in my 1500$ price range. Any information would be helpful.
Thanks
-Zach

You've already got a pretty good set of wheels there. What were you thinking of getting? As for DVs, skip the forge. Go with the ones that come in the TT -- 710Ns. Can be gotten from purems.com for $39 per. You can go through a set (yes, you need two) of those every other year (which you NEVER would) and it'll still take you 10 years to spend $400.

Have you done the H-sport sway bars? GREAT upgrade for the money. How about a ToyGuy short shifter? Great mod if you've got a manual.

Good luck.

i was thinking of getting these off of ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-AU...spagenameZWDVW

but i can always hold off on the wheels... as far as the TT valves.. is the 710Ns the part number?

You have given me some great information but can you or anyone else give their opinions or the GIAC or APR chip, Which is the best value and will not do serious damage to my auto transmission. I was just looking at prices for APR and it is 600 but i believe i will try to buy someones used ECU. How will i be able to tell if it will work in my car, which numbers should match up. Once again thanks for the info.
