Tech help! Code P1624
Any Tech guys,
I had my CEL come on for about a week, then it went off. On my most recent oil change I had the shop pull the codes, this is what they came up with:
"SAE=P1624
VAG=18032
Description of Malfunction: MIL Request Sign. active
Corrective Action: -exhaust relevant malfunction from Transmission Control Module (TCM), MIL is switched on by TCM
-Check DTC Memory of TCM"
I really don't know what any of this means, but I'm freaking out because I see the word "Transmission" in the description! What do I have to look forward to here, a new tranny? The car runs great, I have been noticing lately a very slight "bump" type of feel in the gear shifting from low to high when I slow down then accelerate again? Any thoughts on where I'm at right now, or what I can do now to prevent a complete tranny melt down later would be much appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Tech help! Code P1624
Thanks NH,
I hear what your saying, I actually get all my work done at a local foreign car place that specializes in German cars, not an Audi dealership.
Having said that, the CEL just clicked on again tody when I was driving, one day after my oil change and reset the light. So needless to say I'm bringing it back in tomorrow and having them "chase the rabbit down the hole". Wish me Luck!

CEL came back on the next day! Same code along with the torque converter code (this has came on before). Tech said it's definitely a bad tc, so I'm getting it replaced next week. I have an extended warranty through Continental Warranty, thak God they're paying for this, best $1500 I ever spent!!

Dave, so are you saying that in your opinion you don't think there is a problem with my torque converter? Even though the tc code has came up twice now, along with that P1624 code?
What questions should I be asking the tech when I go back to the shop tomorrow before I tell them to proceed with the tc replacement?
