2nd Gear
Brice, my one experience with the brake pedal switch is that it never gives problems consistently. With my Saab, we were up in the hills and I noticed the brake lights were on in the morning, just like you did. It drained the battery, and after a jump start, I moved the pedal with my hand, to see if it can fix it, which it did. However, that day, the performance just came down and the car was not going past 1000 rpm, for like 40 mins. Then on its own it became fine, and gave no problems for two days, until it showed up again. Changed the switch, cost me $90, and was only available with the dealer. Btw, IMO, Saabs are the most overated piece of crap, they are really built badly.
Since my car was at GMP today for wheels and suspension, I got it VAGed... Sure enough as the experts guessed above in this thread... BRAKE SWITCH code came up!
Thanks guys!
Anyway, I am getting two swithces since they break easily and are only $4 each
Will get them this week hope. The car acted up again toinght on the way home! got stuck with no acceleration in traffic

Try the same switch, just take it out and pull the thimble all the way out again re-install it. That commonly happens when i install switches. You need to erase the fault codes with the VAG COM before driving it.

after the two lights came on the first time right after install, we plugged a VAG and cleared the codes. It was fine for a while, then tonight they both came back on...
What's the "THIMBLE"? Is that the soft whites skinny end of the switch?

Oh you got the white switch? Then yeah its the part that collapses against the pedal. It clicks when you push it in, pull it all the way out and re-install it. Sometimes the switch gets cocked sideways a little, or the switch gets pushed in a little too far making you have to push the pedal farther to activate the lights.
hey, just wanetd to keep yuo posted...
last night we removed the new switch we had put in monday - unlike the old stock one, you can't pull the thimble to adjust. it seemed fine though. I had gotten a second new one from a different dealer and we installed this one. So far, so good!! Hope it lasts!
I am getting a third one as a spare... just in case
