Default Thinking about chipping the 2.7T

Hello,
I am thinking about chipping my car (A6 with 65k) and wanted to know if I should do ay engine work first to "beef it up"? Or is the engine not a problem under the greater pressure. I also wanted to get some input on some of your experences with the different chips out there. i.e. APR and GIAC...

Thanks in advance, and yes I did already read some of the posts on related topics but I am looking for some more info.

Thanks,
Rich

I use GIAC which is a great chip, but APR is just as good. I would stay with either one. I recommend other upgrades prior to chipping because the added boost will cause these OEcomponents to fail.

Upgrade your DV's........Bailey, Forge, Hyperboost, etc....
Upgrade your TBB........Samco TBB or APR Bi Pipe

If your car is a 2000, you'll want to replace your "F" hose as well! From there you can chip. Remember to take care of your turbo's due to the added boost from your chip. Easy on start up and easy prior to shut down!

Good Luck!

I see a diference in the claims between GIAC and APR. i.e. GIAC claims approx 275 hp at 344 torq, and APR is at 318 hp and 388 torq....
But I also see posts saying that they are about the same. Anyone have any insight to this?

GIAC has an "X" chip which will get you around 320Hp, which is what I have. It's about an additional 65 to 70Hp

I went with the APR Direct Port program (ECU flash). The APR upgrade is less agressive than the GIAC which should help to prolong the life of the turbos (I have 87k on the odo). The extra hp makes a huge difference[sm=smiley20.gif]
