Hi,

My 2001 A6 4.2L creaks mightily when turning the steering wheel, but not after a cold start, only after the car has been driven for about 20 minutes. Also, it creaks pushing the front part of the car up and down, after being driven a while.

After some googling, it looks like it needs new front end tie rods. I went to get a parts quote from the Audi dealer on Long Island and they want $120 each, I'm assuming I need 2.

Is there another much cheaper part I can get? If so, what brand should it be?
