HUrricane860,

If the timing belt broke before the engine started, there is a chance that the valves are not bent. You'll need to run a leak down check on each cylinder to find out.

Good luck,

Bob

You *may* have gotten lucky and not lunched any valves. As was said before, the fact that it wasn't running doesn't matter, as the starter has more than enough torque to bend valves up nicely. On startup is one of the more likely times that a belt will snap, as it's under a bunch of strain getting both camshafts and the pump spun up to speed while everything is cold.

Pull the heads and have a look. If you got lucky, you just have to do the timing belt (and everything else in there, too! Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, idler pulley, tensioner pulley, and the tensioner itself if you're so inclined). Just doing the belt is still asking for trouble later on down the road.

Same as RedshoeReider.. Damage very likely - If you turned to motor over with the starter and had a broken TB there is a 98.7856% chance of bent vlaves.

Looks like a better kit than the ecstuning and for less money. They even have a tool rental kit for $35 with $325 deposit.
