Default timing chain broken - need feedback

2005 Audi A6 150K miles. the timing chain broke and 1 side is showing no compression - most likely bent valves. I'm considering pulling the engine and doing the work myself with my brother who is very capable but not a mechanic. Have a manual from Bently Publishing and other resources. Am I nuts or is this possible for someone to do it at home?

This is very possible and in fact is something that a number of other members here have experience doing.

If you have the time and space in a garage, I would say go for it. You'll save yourself a TON of money and learn a lot in the process.
