Default timing and dash

ok so i have two questions.. i bought a 99 a6Q a few months ago and i have no idea if the timing belt water pump were replaced. the car now has 170k on it and its running like a champ ive had no problems and i hope it stays that way but i want to get that done who thinks i should? also i am looking for a new guage cluster to replace my current one, the pixles are gone and i want to replace it.. does anyone know where i can get a used one?

you can always look in junkyards for used ones, most of the time if a junkyard is selling a part, that means its in good-excellent condition, and of course u can always say no once u go and see it, also im sure if u just type in 99 a6q dash panel or instrument panel into a google search, u will get a bunch of results from sites that sell replacement ones, as for the water pump and timing belt, i say bring them to a trusted mechanic to look at first, that wont tell u need them unless u actually do

Shokan.com is a good source for used Audi parts.

As for the timing belt, you can visually inspect the belt to see if the edges are frayed or have cracks by popping open the cover. But a lot of the times, hairline cracks are only visible from the underside of the belt.

i try to look for markers such as, the cam gear bolt if it has been touched and other screws at about the front mud guard, which may indicate the car has been in service position previously
