Default tire size for 18" wheels

I have a 99 2.8 A6

I want to put 18" wheels on it, but I dont want to mess with any suspension upgrades.... I just want to know what size tire would make the correct fit... i assume it will be a lower profile tire to the ones on my 16" wheels.... correct?

will the tires be about 2" smaller in diameter as oppossed to the 16" tires to make up for the difference on the 18" wheels?

thanks!!!

235/40/18 should work perfectly fine for 18's. There not as expensive as most of the other sized tires. The tire will not be smaller nor will the rim be smaller, the thickness in the sidewall is will be thinner than your 16. It all depends on the rim you get, also keep in mind the offsett.

He's right. The 235/40/18 will do the trick. My wheels had a 35 mm offset. I have a 2000 2.7, so I had to get some 5mm spacers to clear the front calipers.
