Default Tranny Leak and Limp Mode??

Need some help here, my trannys leaking a little bit, havent got around to popping the fill plug and seeing how much fluid is in there but im now often ending up in limp mode. I dont have a vagcom so any advice on what to do with the leak? is the tranny fried? fluid/filterchange?

just looking for some info/opinions/good or bad news.

I don't think low fluid would cause the tranny to go into limp. It would just cause the car to expirence slipping in gears. But don't quote me on that. It could be possible that running it on such low fluid could have damaged some internals an that's whats causin the limp.

Before you do anything I'd buy a vagcom 10 bucks in eBay. An scan the tranny for codes. If it has gone into limp, I'm sure there are some codes stored in the TCM.

fluid and filter change is always a good idea.
