Default Tranny problem ?

Hello folks, New to the site but thoroughly enjoy it. Here's the question. I have an Avant 2.8 30V 2000 Auto w/85,000 . Bought it used 1 month ago . It feels like there is a problem with the throttle response or tranny. If I accelerate from a stop normally, it goes than kinda hesitates than goes again. Almost feels like a shift in gears but I think that the RPMs are way to low for a shift into second. If I accelerate really slowly it doesnt seem to do it. I have read a few other posts and dont know if it is normal or not but It also seems when I am slowing down with no pessure on the gas pedal that no matter how fast I am going the tranny goes into 5th. Then when i accelerate again it seems to jerk into the gear it should be in at the speed I am going.(Also with an audible thud, not to loud though) . Should I change the tranny fluid. (not sure if it has been done at all) Will a standard tune and lube place be able to accomodate me. Thanks

Default RE: Tranny problem ?

I have had a similar problem with a Honda 2.7 automatic and I did a fluid and filter change and the gears changed a little better but the problem persisted (the problem was a software upgrade) but all I did was pull the fuse to the transmission ECU and replace it and the problem went for a while, its a common problem with powerful cars with auto transmission most are electronic these days so no adjustment to cables, check all vacuum lines to the transmission and kick down linkage, unfortunately this area of the trade is not my strong point as its a specialists area

You may want to try changeing the fluid. This seems to aleviate some problems for some people. This may not be a job for a quick lube place. There is a special tool used to fill the trans and the fluid level must be checked between 35and 45 degrees celcius. Thats a trans fluid temp obtained thru the use of a scan tool. Like avant said this trans is electronically conrolled so thers no many mechanical checks to be made that effect shift timing and quality. Im also not aware of any reprograming for this trans.
