transmission fluid change
Yeah audi trannys are a little gay when it comes to changing the fluid.
The sequence is you first run the engine and monitor the transmission fluid temp with the VAG COMuntil it reads around 30-35 degrees celcuis, pull the drain plug and let it drain all the way out.
Once its drained put the plug back in and take out the 17mm fill plug on the bottom of the pan, install the fill rod and place the fill resivior higher than the transmission so it can be gravity fed into the transmission.
Put in about3 liters into the tranny then start the motor, put in about another 2 liters and monitor the trans fluid temp again until it reaches its specified temp, when it reaches its specified temp and the fluid starts leaking out of the fill hole the transmission is now full. Take out the fill tool and put the 17mm allan bolt back in. Drive it like you stole it.
PS i think the fluid is like $25 a liter [:'(]

I don't see how a transmission can be gay, but anyways.
I changed my fluid for the first time at 115k miles with no problems. We just did it again at 127k, so now basically all the fluid is new. At 115k they changed the filter, at 127k we just did the gasket and fluid. It cost ~150.00 for the 115k change and ~100.00 for the 127k change at Kennedy Transmission.
We have changed, not flushed many of our cars over the years with 100+ miles on them for the first time and never had problems. Actually we have always felt improvements. But as I always say, each users experience can and will vary.

Auditech is right here. I would not let anyone that doesnt service audi's regularly to mess with changing the trans fluid. As for as the changing intervals, I would at least try and get it done every 50k. All the companies now are saying they are maintance free, hoping that your car gets out of warranty period and then the transmission burns up so you come walking back to them to have them put in a trans for $3000.
I have recieved the proceedure to do it yourself, can be done, but for me I don't have the time so I asked for a price quote from my local Audi dealer, Fall River, Ma.,they told me $489.00
So now, I'm trying to find an indi in my area who knows how to do Quattro tranny fluid changes..........Anyone know where, I live in Southern New England area.....................?
