Default Turbo & Maintenance Bullets

Forgive my ignorance on the subject...

My 01 A6 is my first turbo equipped vehicle. Is there anything I need to pay careful attention to try and get the best performance and life out the turbo including maint. items and usage? I've been careful to let the thing spool up before mashing the pedal...

Also, are there any significant/common maintenance items specific to this car? (aside from fluid checks and oil changes...) Ambituously I hope to edge this car out to 200k miles, as I was able to do with my old 7 series Bim.

This is a great forum, and very helpful!

Thanks
-Morgan

The big three:
[ul][*] Warm Up: Wait until the oil temperature guage has moved up by one notch before reving the engine higher than 3000 RPM.[*] Cool Down: Drive gently the last few minutes before arriving at your destination to allow things to cool down. You don't have to sit in your driveway idling before shutting down. Just take it easy the last few miles before you get there.[*] Synthetic Oil every 5000 miles (some are comfortable going longer than that, 5000 is pampering).

Whats the recommended oil and weight? I've poked around on the forum a bit, and I'm thinkin Mobil 1 10/40 syn seems appropriate... AND my motorcycle will run that as well so I can buy it in bulk.

Is changing the oil at home a rough task? I'm relatively capable with tools.
What about filters? OEM seems like the best choice... Does anyone have a good source for those besides the stealership?

Thanks for all the info!

I use Mobil 1 0W40 for 2000 A6 2.7T. It seems to like it. I am planning to use 0-30 for December through February (NJ). I asked around alot when I was deciding what to use and there seems to be no good reason to use a 10W40 when you can use a 0W40, but I don't know @$%#.

The owners manual states 5W-30.
For high ambient temperatures - 5W-40.

I once heard someone say black oil filters --

I always use Mann because they can withstand the pressure.
