Default Turbos

Hi guys,

I have an 2001 Audi A6 2.7t with almost 70K. I noticed even when I bought it that it had a nice whistle noise to it. I actually don't think that the turbos are blown. When I step on the gas the car takes of right away. When I rev the car from 1000 rpm till 3500 you hear that whistle noise, after that its normal. So I would say that they are not blown. Maybe its losing pressure because I didn't replace the Diverters. So if you guys could tell me what it might be. Tell me if they are blown or how I know they are blown.

Those are your devirters for sure. I picked some up on ebay this month for $60 each. The instalation takes 10 min's. All you need is a flat head screw driver and some patience. I have my 2000 2.7t chipped by apr and it blew them after one month and I could feel the difference. After I installed it it hauled a$$ again. So it will caost about 150 but it is worth it. The Bosch ones break easily and can't be repaired any new bypass vavle will be fixable. I hope that helps. If you need pics I can get them for you by tomorrow.

Is your car stock? You may not have a problem from what you have stated. You said the whistling goes away. You hit the gas pedal and the car takes off. You would definitely know if you had a blown turbo. Don't forget, you will hear some whistling anyway (turbos spooling), that is normal, but if you feel your diverter valves are blown, Stratmosphere has HX Diverters that work great. I have them on my car along with a GIAC X chip!
