Ive got a friend who just bought an 98 A6 (2.8), i can get my VAGCOM to connect to central locking, HVAC, and instrument cluster (however they can be a little finiky at times), but i cant get it to connect to Engine, ABS, Airbag, Trans, it will try at 10400 baud to start for all of them and then instead of descending in its baud rate if it doesnt work it just says ECU not present or responding... (This is on a palm pilot using VAD and Prodiag, its a carbon copy of VAGCOM except on palm). My VAG works flawless on my 99 A4, any ideas?? Thanks.

 

Yeah, my friend and I couldn't connect VAGCOM to his '98 A4 so it seems that anything 98 and before doesn't work too well. We had the same symptoms, too.

 

Which version? Mine works just fine with 409.1

 

I use 311 on my Audi

Those version numbers must be for VAGCOM for a laptop, ive tried two different versions of VAD on palm. Prodiag: Ver 1.06 and VAD Mobile: 1.13.01

The real Vag-Com from ross tech will work, my friend called them a while back about his '98 a4 (sorta mentioned above) and they told them that sometimes the ebay ones and other non-'ross tech' ones don't work at all. They pretty much guarantee theirs, not to mention they have good service.

 

I don't know about the palm version but the laptop versions seem to work OK. I use a serial to USB convertor and 311. Some of the slow convertors have a problem.

 

Again. We're trying to see if it works with a '98 Audi.
