Trapped,

Vast Performance has been custom tuning both transmitions and ECU's for a while. but they decided to start selling to more public than in house customers. They used to only like to install Computer programs in houes to assure the max results. E mail prince@vastperformance.com and let them know you saw the info on the forums. They are super cool and all about horse power not hype. it is about time some one started to look out for the A6 guys

Well I have GIAC X-chip and Tip chip on my 2.7T, and I am wondering what does vast performance has to do to upgrade the tip file to stage 3? And will that affect anything else?

Thanks for the info. I love VAST too.

so is VAST's TCU the GIAC file but modified by VAST or a brabnd new code all together.
Did they do that on your stock unit or yuo got a spare?

I want to do it, how much was it?

Also please descrive ion more details the advantages... Does it solve for the gear hunting... the trannu hvanig a mind of its own and shifting down for you then getting stuck for a second tryign upshift at high RPM..

also is the benfit more on the upshift or down shift?

Did you by any chance do a before and after 1/4 or 1/8 mile ?

THANKS again!

I contacted the guys at Vast and they told me that they can do the tcu upgrade for around $375 including instalation... all you have to do is send them your tcu and they can load it on there and send it right back!

Is this designed to EXTEND the life of the tip or just the performance of the car (i.e, DECREASE the lifespan).
Is it a mod only best done after you've chipped the ECU?

yes, both their chips are designed to prolong the life of the transmission and engine while still getting you much better performance. you can get the TCU file without chipping the ECU if you like, it doesn't matter with theirs like it does from some of the other companies. the only benefit to chipping the ECU as well would obviously be the power gains.

The trans chip deffinitly is going to get you some more miles out of the trans. espicialy if you are already chipped. You can have any ECU file and the vast trans file will still work

I ahve been exchanging emails with Kurt about this chip and note that they ahve 3 stages, but stage 1 is too close to stock.. getting more info from Prince later on the phone on the difference.
Their stage3 S4 saw an almost 1/2 sec improvement to 1/4 mile... should help with reliability, much better than GIAC's..
I am doing it!!!
