just get the APR with 93 oct AND Stock program. You just ue the cruise control switch to switch b/w programs. ot apparently the GIAC multiflash to do the same but it will require VAG COM or GIAC tool which will bothcost extra #. Just get APR, two programs and be done with it. Just use the cruise control to switch back to stock whe going to the dealer if it is not mod friendly

Hey Project

I am not guru, but here's my take on the chip thing... hope this helps clear things up a little...

At the end of the day your engine is nothing more than a big air pump. It gets air in, mixes it with fuel and ignites it. The more air you can squeeze into the combustion chamber the more fuel you can add and the more power will be generated.

I just had installed a Revo software upgrade along with their SPSPlus control module and have seen significant increases in HP & Torque. The module allows further settings to boost, timing and set octane levels. This enginestrengthening though showed the weakness in last installed OEM clutch (@ 88K .... now 130K) ~ and went with the RS4 Clutch/Flywheel kit from AWE.

The upgrade packagesdo not coming nearly close to what wammy18 has done ...... but IMO, were definitely worth the $$ spent.

and when i switch the programming, the dealer won't be able to detect it!?!!?!? can't they just switch it back? dont i have to manually pull the chip out everytime?

and how would i switch it with the GIAC?

the giac said it would give me 70-80 hp and torque so 335-345 hp and 350-360 tq, the apr just says 318hp/382lb-ft, so am i looking at pretty much the same thing performance wise or what

might be a dumb question but i'm car-dumb so thanks in advance

They can always find out if they want to, there is no fool proof solution I am afraid... IMO
Also for most Audi cars these days, it is not a CHIP but a tune or flash. They load a file on your cars computer. There is nothing physically to remove... ON some cars there are.. I.e.: my buddies 2000 S4 has a hard chip soldered in. Mine is flashed on.

For GIAC, read the posts above.

Performance is close really, although I think GIAC has a stronger file that's 1.2 or 1.3 bar vs APR's 1.0... but I would expect it to be harder on the turbos. GIAC is said to be more... brutal/aggressive, APR more driveable....less impressive but still fast..... just feels different.

I heard you are unable to use your cruise control with multi modes on the APR program. I believe that is why GIAC has a vag com to fix MBC and other small problems like that.
