Warning Signs
Hi folks
I've just bought my first Audi, an 8 yr old A6 2.4 automatic which is by far the most technological car I've owned. I had it serviced as soon as I bought it and I was told that the brakes would need replacing after another 5000 miles or so. One day since then I was driving when I got a jolt from the car and the ABS warning light was on the dash. I also got a brakes warning symbol as well as the engine oil pressure symbol and the engine seemed to go into some sort of "safe" mode. I pulled over as soon as I could and turned off the engine and started reading through the hand book. When I turned on the ignition to double check the symbols they had gone. I turned on the engine and the car ran normally. This has happened twice since. Is this symptomatic of a major problem because if it is I'd like to be aware before I take it to a proper Audi garage.
Any advice would be appriciated.
Thanks
Maz

Hi
This is excatly the same problem I have now and Audi after 2 weeks of trial and error - even changing the dashboard - now claim that it is the ABS module. The cost is £1080 + vat + labour charge - totalling £1800 !
My car is 1998 A6 Advant.
You can get the module cheaper and get a mechanic to fit it.

Hi Guys
I took the car in and had a diagnostic and I was told that it needed a new ABS Control Unit. At £1060.00 + VAT + Labour I thought I'd find a used one. The car is that age where they're getting written off after accidents etc but I'm having trouble finding one in the UK so I've got a friend in Germany looking and I'm trying breakers in the States.
Does anyone here know where I can find one or know someone I can contact. The part No is 8EO 614 111 G and it's for a 97 A6 2.4 Auto petrol. I have no problem paying shipping from oversee because it can't be that heavy. Can it?
Thanks
