Default Washer fluid level sensor

Hi guys, the washer fluid sensor in my car (Audi 100 Quattro 2.8 v6 1994)never worked....or I though it didint untill today when I took a look at it.
There is a snorcle thing that comes out the bottom of the sensor and 3 wires from the top of the sensor: brown, red/green and black/purple
Those wires where cut, could someone tell me which does what? and how I would go about hooking up an led for it (I dont have the stock dash anymore)

are the sensor made to show 2 levels? like low fluid and ALMOST EMPTY or something like that? or is it just a low lvl and stays like that even when its empty?

any help is apretiated....would be awsome if it has low and almost empty so i can hook up 2 LEDs for it
