Any ideas on how much a good paint job for an A6 would be??? I have a 2000 2.7T with 60k on it and some bad scratches from parking in Manhattan. The car is is pristine condition besides the bumpers and some bad scratches on the side..... I plan on keeping the car for a while since i just got a new clutch and tranny...

 

im going to paint mine soon with a body kit and will say i heard about 1 grand for my job

A grand sounds cheap. The heavy labor is in the prep work: removing the weatherstripping, trim, mirrors, etc. Especially if you're going to clear coat over the black. If it's not done right, the clear coat starts to peel. I'd double that cost, especially if you live in the NYC area.

 

paint the whole car ... a good job will cost you anywhere from 3500 to 6000

 

Nice job in the NYC area is going to cost around $5K

 

someone on AW did a recent color change on an S4 Avant, I believe he was well over the $6K mark

 

Depends on if you plan to change the color of the car or keep it the same. It's way more involved to change the color...the right way. Remove every panel, doors, hood, decklid...etc. Remove all interior door panels, trunk carpeting, sound detener, weatherstripping, emblems, door handles, bumpers...you see where I'm goingwith this.Keep inmind the right way to change colors; means painting both sides of the metal not just the ones you see!

Repainting the car I would say $5,800.00
Changing the color of the car $7,000.00+ (depends what kind of mood I'm in)!
