I would have to say its between the legendary 5 cyl turbo and the 4.2 v8, which is in my opinion the most solid, well rounded engine. I mean they use it in like 4 of their cars!(not including the use of 2 of them for the bugatti veyron)

The S4 (body of 100/A6) with 2,3 20V had 225 hp !
With a manual it was something!
