What to Look For in Buying a Used Audi?
Hi everyone,
I'm completely new to the forum, Audis, and cars in general. I'm currently looking into buying a 2003 A6 as my first. It's listed at a price that I would say is reasonable for someone in my position looking for something to get started with. Here's the link: 03 Audi A6 Quattro, Low Miles, AWD, Run And Looks Great
I just want to know what you all would say to look for in checking out, test driving, and ensuring the car is in good condition before I buy it. Also, if you've got any tips on taking care of the car for a beginner and/or making sure everything is working right, please let me know!
Thanks!!!!!

Read the sticky on 2.7T issues - other than the engine, most apply. Best advice is get it inspected by someone who knows Audis really well before buying. If well maintained they are reliable, but you have no way of knowing the history after 12 years and 137k miles. If you are stretched spending $4k for your first car, run away. At this age and mileage, things fail and generally cost $500-1000 for a medium repair.

Thanks for directing me to that. I'm going to have to research some more about how to check the sensors and other parts that post is talking about. The carfax (which can be unreliable as it is) shows absolutely no matinence records whatsoever on the car. So, while I do have a good friend who works on Audis often and could probably look it over, I'd still feel uncomfortable knowing there's no way to know for sure when/if matinence has actually been done; especially with an extra thousand dollars in repairs looming as a possible cost. I'll probably end up test driving it still, and hopefully I'll know a bit more about what to look out for from that sticky. Thanks a ton
