Exhaust is always a good mod, reduce back pressure, help the turbos live longer.
Some good web sites would be...
purems.com
ecstuning.com
vastperformance.com
goapr.com
awe-tuning.com
Im sure theres others, thats just whats in my bookmarks.

Most important preventive maintenance: if it has not been done replace the timing belt is your car is at or above 75K miles.

Basic and cheap upgrades: replace the diverter valves (2 of them) with the updated 710n, replace the rubber throttle body boot (they tend to tear with age) with a silicone one from Samco, and replace the coolant temperature sensor with the updated (green) one.

First performance upgrade should be a chip (GIAC or APR). Best bang for your bucks.
Next would be a chip for your Tiptronic (does not apply if you have a 6 speed).

Yep, the chip will push you over 300hp. Have to do the diverter valves as well - the OEM valves have crappy diaphragms and will fail under the increased boost. That being said, if you're in school still, enjoy your car but put your money toward the things you need. That engine is plenty powerful as-is, and upgrading for more boost can accelerate the onset of trouble. That trouble can cost quite a bit to fix and being on a college budget may push it over the edge of what you're realistically prepared for. Most 2.7T engines with mild upgrades will run fine for a long time, but you never know...
