On Sept 13 I posted a steering wheel vibration problem I was having on my 2002 Audi A6 when driving over 50mph. My Audi dealer, YBH Audi , in Newtown Square, PA insisted that I had four bent rims. New rims would cost approximately $400 each. I priced at Pep Boys for around $600 for a set of four (what a rip off). Not believing the Audi dealerI next tried the least expensive fix. I brought my car to a local repair and tire retail store and asked them to re-balance my four tires. One hour later and for $50 the job was done. I tested it by driving it between 50mph and 60mph. Low and behold vibrations were all gone. I saved myself $1,550. The lesson is don't believe anything your Audi maintenance dept ever tells you. They are out to rip you off.

 

I wish I was as lucky. I got screwed by the stealer and theres nothing I can do. I bought all new wheels like they said and still have vibration. They are crooks and should all be put out of business. What good comes from the dealer??

 

Did the tire dealership tell you that you had bent rims? They would be able to tell as they were spin-balancing. If the rims were good, then you ran into an incredibly incompetent dealership and you should complain to the service manager. Document it in a letter and copy Audi of America or someone like that. Don't let them get away with it.
