I am aware of my sacrifice of a little performance. I stated that earlier that I went for a little of both. I can live with my sacrifice. I am not racing. So it is not as "functional" as 17" inch wheels, I can live with that too. I also know of the risk I will take with potential potholes and a rougher ride, once again I can live with that. Am I paying more for the tires, you bet, and guess what, I am fine with that. You simply threw me into a catagory to which I do not belong and not even knowing who the person is behind it

My car has nice clean lines and I am complimented frequently. So what, we are straying from what you called "functional" a little bit. It in no way means it is bling! You are still blind and one sided!

Joeski,

You need to take a chill pill. At the very least, I suggest you try to keep the dialog respectful.

I never abridged your right to put whatever wheels you want on your ride. I just stated my opinion that I think 19" wheels are bling on a C5 A6. Why? Because it is NOT a functional (i.e., performance) upgrade on a C5 A6 for the reasons I've already listed (which you, interestingly enough, have not addressed). On a C6 A6 probably. On an A8 sure. On a 911, by all means. These cars can handle a wheel that large and still have a tire aspect ratio that is appropriate for the design specs of the suspension (ask your buddy with the 911 what aspect ration his tires are -- I'll bet a week's pay that its a higher aspect ration than you're running). You can fit those wheels on a C5 A6, but it will ride harsh as heck. It will also detract from performance due to the extra weight. Finally, it will cost more, both for the wheels and for the ultra-low aspect ration tires you'll need. So, we're back to it being a "look" thing. Which, I have ALWAYS maintained, is a matter of personal preference.

So, be happy with your 19"s. Enjoy them. Just don't get upset with me if I don't.

Peace.

Lets clarify bling.........Bling is a ghetto term........used by the hoods who put 24 inch chrome spinners on their f**king Escalade or Navigator.
The original question was asked about the ride smoothness vs. the nice look of larger wheels. No need to add your prejudice upbringing into the conversation. Cant we all just get along? Bling is just slang like any other slang term, so relax your emotions dude.

Back to the topic. I have been searching for new wheels for my A6 and I have been thinking the same thing. My questions to anyone with 19s on their ride (or anyone who knows) ... Is the ride really that terrible or are people just overreacting? What are the limitations downgrades or whatever? Can you get a decent sized tire in there or will I be stuck buying rubberband tires? Can anyone with 18s or 19s post a pic of just the wheel for the side view? That way we can all see how the ride sits, because if the 19s dont make the look much sexier than the 18s its really not worth the "loss of performance", right?

Joeski,

You appear determined to drag this conversation into the gutter. That's a shame. I've responded to a NUMBER of your posts in the past with helpful information and have kept the expression of my opinion in this dialog respectful. You, on the other hand, are compelled to attack me personally just because I don't share your proclivity to large wheels. Interesting way to approach things.

Good luck.

Ok Joeski, no problems. I've read some of your threads and you seem to be an intelligent person and I was just curious about what you meant by that comment. Sports players and celebs also put Dubs on their rides not just us hood people. But we are way off topic anyway. Anyone wanna post their wheels 18s or 19s on A6s and show the difference in the looks?? So we can get a side by side comparison of them.

Well, I don't know about the argument that is going on but my 2 cents is that if you want your car to prefrom to it's optimum then don't get 19's but if you want more looks than performance then go 19's. Either way you still get a great rim with great performance because let's face it 18's may be smaller but they still look good and 19's hinder the performance but come on, it is an A6, there is plenty of performance to go aroun.

Happy to see this one ended peacefully, my two cents of the whole rims thing is we all purchase rims for the look. OK if you don’t believe me if someone produced a rim with best the performance specs but the rim looked like sh*t. Would you buy that rim? Hell No, anyway we all love cars here and adding our own touch to them. So keep putting on the Big rims Small rims on the A6's and watch out for potholes.
