Default Where is the oil temp. sensor?

My temperature is always fluctuating. It will go up as high as 300 sometimes, stay there for miles, then suddenly go down just left of the center line (can't remember what the center temp is) and stay there for many miles, then back up again. Would like to test if the sensor is bad or if the oil temp is actually as hot as it reads sometimes. Anyone had this problem?...could there be a clog somewhere that doesn't circulate the oil until it gets to a certain temp?
Also the coolant temp is rock solid at center line, never seen that budge with respect to the oil temp. fluctuations.

Default Oil Temp

Hi,

It sounds like you have a bad Oil Temperature Sending Unit. My Bentley Manual refers to it as an , "Oil Level Thermal Sensor" and its located on the bottom side of the oil pan or sump pan.

Could you seriously stop posting everything in bold, it's annoying.

Oil temp location, get your reference from the oil filter there.
