Yea, i have looked over both side compartments. Did you have the connector? If so, was it on the passenger side or driver side? I am tempted to tear out the trunk walls looking for it. [&:]

Great, thanks. I'll peel back the liner then. next question, i contacted our local dealer and they said that they can install part # 8E003S593G for $650, and i'd be able to get xm. Anyone know what this part is, and are they right? I dont have a SAT button, and i told them that.

Well that is one expensive part!
There is this piece: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2cMJxLT...mp;I=469AUDAUX
you would still have to get the XM receiver though.

I did some research on crutchfield and found that if you have a factory installed BOSE system that there is a 13 pin connector in the trunk (see copy and pasted details below)
Installation Details for your2003 A6
ยป
There must be a factory CD changer cable that terminates in a round 13-pin DIN connector behind the trunk liner in the driver's side of the trunk.
ยป
You will need to disconnect the external factory CD changer, if you have one, and connect the new adapter in its place.
ยป
Adapter plugs into the factory cable.
ยป
The Crutchfield MasterSheet, if available, does not cover OEM integration.
