Default Radio Options?

I recently had to replace the Battery in our 2001 TT Roadster. Once completed I reset the clock and date and then went to enter the code for the radio, but the screen did not display anything.

hmmmmm.....started checking things and found the fuse was blown in the drivers side dash fuse box. Replaced it and still nothing.

Is there another fuse somewhere? I'm thinking I fried something, but not sure how I would have done it. Everything else seems to work properly. If it is fried, can anyone recomend a good replacement stereo to put it its place?

Thanks!

If it is fried you should be able to get a radio from any best buy..etc

however I would personally just stick with a stock one and get it on EBAY....way cheaper than getting an aftermarket... and imo a stock will look better/match the car better.

good luck!

Thanks! I would like to keep the stocker also. I guess the only thing I need to worry about wit one from ebay is the code (and of course if it works).

Found a couple on Ebay. You are right, very inexpensive. I'll pick one up and have the dealer pull the code for me.

if anything the dealer can find the code for you.

I was smart enough to leave my lights on last week.... killed my battery... anyways everything works fine however my radio is stuck in safe mode and I dont have the code.

The dealer is going to pull it for me...

sucks $42.50.

LAME.

Good luck!

Does the battery have to be dead a certain time-limit before the battery goes into safe mode? I had my battery disconnected the other day to clear a CEL and had no problems with the radio going into safe because IT DIDN'T. I still have the code (3rd owner) so its not a big deal either way.

Found 2 in a salvage yard here in MN that they tested and they before they pulled. They offer a 120 day warranty on them and only want $45!

2 questions -

1. is the coupe and Raodster the same? He shows different part numbers, but the picture is identicle to mine.

2. How the heck do you get it out? LOL looks like You slip something in the 2 slots in front of the deck. Is that correct. I was going to have him verify it by part number off of mine.

Thanks for all the help! I like listening to the purr of the motor, but still need tunes every once in a while.

yeah, you'll need to buy or make radio removal keys. If I can find mine, I'll try to remember to take some pics and measurements. I have exact replicas of the factory keys. You can make some from the metal hanger out of a hanging folder. Search audiworld for pics of that version. its been documented.

I'm just south of the Twin Cities in Rosemount. Both of the decks are tape , but I plan on buying an ipod adaptor that plugs in to the CD changer. You can get the from Crutchfield.
