I have an D2 A8 4.2l, My mechanic had raised some concerns about the crankshaft pulley assembly while he was putting on a timing kit from ECStuning, it was beginning to flake\crumble apart. So I bought a used one of Ebay, it had the timing teeth and accessory pulley. He called me today and said that the timing marks on accessory pulley on the newer one does not match up to the one that was taken off my Audi. What should we do to rectify this problem? My thought was to line the old CS pulley to TDC, lock it there, then mount the new one at that position and remark timing on the new one. Thank you for your time and knowledge.
