Looks like Tire Rack has the best price for them.

Do you have your service work done by the dealer?
The only service I needed so far was the oil change, Just because the dealer was too far away I did it @ an independent service place that works only on German cars.
I used to be a Bimmer fanatic and swore myself not to buy any thing else but a & series Bimmer, this car has changed my mind so far!!

Just heard what they want for the 55K service - $850. Kind of stupid when it is only an oil change, spark plugs, and 2 air filters. WTF?

Anyone who has owned an Audi for a while and has some tips on maintenance costs, please let me know. I am not a cheapskate. $295 to change oil is expensive. period.

Thoughts?
I got mine done at Henry Oil Can and Forumla One it's about $120 (regular $80 for 5 quarts) but A8L take 8 quarts. They don't know where the filter is you just have to tell them. It is on cyclinder one (passager) side right under it behind the heat shield.

Okay, so I've been looking for a D3 A8L for a while now, and have been waiting for the time to be "right" when I am happy with a mileage / price compromise. It is heartening to know that so far nobody has mentioned any issues with the air suspension. This is good to know as a current Allroad owner, who has had ALL the typical adjustable air suspension problems, which included replacing bags, etc, before 100k miles. So, I really, really need to know......has NOBODY had ANY suspension issues??

Sorry, but there have actually been countless threads on this subject....mainly dealing with front air springs almost guaranteed to go by 100K miles:

Probably heard about the front upper control arms on D3's at 50K miles too:

Every car has it's sore spots...these seem to be the 2 most common in this one.

My 2004 A8L has 52,000+ and no suspention issues. It's a real kick when you hit highway
speed and you see the symbol in the instument panel light up telling you the car has
"lowered itself" for max aero efficiency.
Mine also has sonar speed control and parking w/o any problems to date. The car is so fast and quiet it's hard to avoid speeding tickets.

Howdy all. Just picked up an 07 with 55K miles. Had to take it back to have the control arm bushings replaced. Thankfully, it was under warranty. Man, do I love this car. Dude that owned it before paid 1600 for the 'fridge' option. It's behind the armrest in the back seat Also have the MMI/AMI rocking the IPOD classic. Had to get the MMI software updated to 4160 and use a different IPOD cable, though, to get it to work. Will post the cable part number in a few...

Default Repairs/ A8L 2004

Just had the the left and right upper rear control arms replaced. The cost was covered by my extended warranty.

Audi also replaced the 8 ignition coils at no cost because of a recall issue.

Do you have extended warranty? because as far as i know Audi has only 50K miles warranty, I have an 07 A8L as well with 78K miles, but never had problems with control arms.

With close to 120K on my '04, the suspension bushings are definitely shot. It was livable at 100K, but now it's getting worrisome - front and rear suspension bushings. Definitely on the list of winter projects.
