As of recently my father has been looking into buying an Audi, specifically an A8L from the 2004 model year. The one we've been looking at has 124k miles. The big worry he has is how long he can expect it to own it before it develops so many problems that it is basically undriveable. For those of you who own one, how many miles are on your car and what are the most common things to look out for that could go wrong? Also, around how much have you spent in maintaining it? I owned Audi cars off and on since 1977, both new and used. And my experience has been that unless you are able to do your own repair and maintenance work, as they age they can become a money pit. Parts are super expensive, expert labor hard to find and then very expensive. That said, they are very nice when everything works, and they can be an interesting hobby.
