Thumbs down 2004 Audi A8 L Light Sensor

Hello all,

I started my car up one day and I got the icon on my display for the LIGHT SENSOR being out! I don't know if this is a simple fix or a reset or something like that.

Also, I did a oil change and I can't reset my service light for some reason. Any way around dealer?

Any suggestions to resolve the issue would be great fellas

The light/rain sensor on the D3 is stuck to the windscreen behind the rear view mirror. You have to take off the plastic cover, a special tool needed according to the manual.

Did your side mirrors go dark? When the sensor went out?

I have the same problem on my 2004.

The side mirrors aren't dark and the dimming rear-view mirror doesn't work. The sensor error is somewhat sporadic, but at no point does the auto-dimming work. Also, my Homelink garage door buttons don't work, didn't know if that was somewhat related.

The interior light settings have no affect on it, either.

I would check for DTC's with VCDS (VAG-COM).

It will also reset the OP's service indicator.

Yeah, will do. I was just being cheap and trying to avoid spending the $400 - knowing it will pay for itself quite quickly.
