A8 quattro slipping drive ?
Hi,
As the proud owner of a few Audi's i think i have a problem with the latest one i have rescued from the scrap heap.
After getting it running again (ignition amps and fuel purge faults) it has flew through its test but when i am driving it i cant help notice a kind of a slip from the gearbox.
I would describe it as if it was a manual and you rested your heavy foot on the clutch pedal and as it slipped you realised then lifted your foot off and it grabbed again
This is also accompanied by a very faint almost like a vvvvv noise from the box but you have to listen hard for that
This happens in 3rd and 4th i don't know about the first 2 as it doesn't stay in them long enough
This has been going on for the whole 600 miles i have owned it and got no worse its just annoying it does it on the flat, uphill, hard acceleration, cruising, most noticeable cruising up a hill at say 50mph
The box code is cgv / cml 4 speed box its a 1996 aug model with 203k on the clock
I havent checked anything except plugged into VAG DIAG that brigs no joy
