Hello all, I own a 2005 Audi A8 and I have been experiencing a weird issue. In the morning, I start my car and all is well until I shift into reverse to back out of my driveway. Halfway down the driveway, all of the dash indicator lights illuminate and the car will refuse to move, whether it be drive or reverse. When I restart the car, all will be fine and the car will proceed normally. However, I have also noticed a clunk when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. The car handles fine, but it hesitates when taking off from a start sometimes. Especially when cold. The car has generally been reliable with the exception of the normal D3 A8 problems: Suspension replacement, Cooling system repairs, with the occasional sensor issue which usually resolves on its own.

 

Sounds like the dreaded transmission issues. However, if the transmission fluid and filter has not been replaced, that might fix it. These transmissions need a fluid change every couple of years in order to make them live longer.
