I just replaced mine on my 01 A8L with 75K on it. My mechanic said it is very commen for them to go bad. Kind of sucks.

I have a 2000 A8 and it went out about 12 months ago at about the 42,000 mile mark. It took a couple of months to figure out what was wrong. The car needed about 2 minutes to warm up and it misfired a lot. Apparently it's a pretty common problem.

The part was ~$140 w/ 30 mins. labor.....so close to $200. Kind of pricey....but that's Audi Service...no Mom n' Pop shops.
