Smile Engine management light staying on

Hi fellow forum members, only recently (3 weeks ago) purchased a 2002 A8L 4.2, very happy with car, beautiful drive and lots of power and toys to play with . I cleaned the car today and had all the doors open and the radio on after approx an hour the radio shut itself off, I expect the power saver kicked in.
After finished my cleaning I started the car and the engine management light stayed on, the engine runs fine, but very annoying that yellow light on in my dash, drove the car a couple of miles and still light stayed on and has been on every since, any ideas ??? or remedies

You mean the check engine light? There are literally thousands of things that can cause a check engine light, mostly emmissions related. If the engine is running fine its probably a bad O2 sensor, faulty EVAP system, SAP system etc. There is no way we can tell you what to do without pulling the fault codes, and to do that you need a scan tool. You can rent one from autozone (usually at no cost) then post the fault code here (ex. P0300) and we can tell you what it is, or look it up here. http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tec....dtc.table.htm
You can also buy a vag com, which is a software you can download to your lap top computer, you just need to buy the cable. http://www.ross-tech.com/
