Hi everyone,

I like the idea of having the safety of an Audi as well as having the Quattro System during a Midwest winter. I'd also like something large and comfortable. I've taken a very high interest in the 2000 - 2003 Audi A8Ls. I'll be moving up from a 1991 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which I'm hoping Audi can deliver equal, if not better quality.

My question would be, what are some things to look for during a pre-purchase inspection for a 2000 - 2003 A8L with about 50k - 80k miles? I know timing chains are an issue with V8 Mercedes around 100,000 miles. Is that also the case with the 4.2 from Audi? Also, what are some important details to know about a used A8L? (things like timing chains, transmission, etc) Any weak aspects of the car? Just any information in general would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
