Iphone 3gs not working as ipod with AMI in my 2007 A8
Hi,
I wasn't sure the best place to post this, so I posted here in the A8 page and the general tech / electronics pages. Sorry for the multiple posting, but I'd like to see if someone has had this experience with their AMI and an iphone (to be used as an ipod).
I have a 2007 A8 with MMI version 46.1.0, and equipped with AMI.
I would like to be able to use my Iphone 3GS as an Ipod and hook it up to the AMI. When attached, the MMI displays a message that says that the device may not be hooked up correctly and the MMI will not play music from the Iphone 3GS. The Iphone displays a message about it being connected to an unsupported accessory. The iphone will charge via the cable, however.
Does anyone know if the Iphone 3GS can be used as an ipod with my particular hardware and software? Perhaps an AMI update of some kind???

I expected it to work and was surprised it didn't. My iPhone 3GS has worked with every other ipod dock or connection I've ever tried it in though.... so I'm still thinking some kind of firmware update (I've read they exist)....

I use the bluetooth module of the MMI to use the "phone" function of my Iphone 3GS, not the ipod functionality. As of now, I don't wish to purchase the bluetooth adapter for the AMI to stream music through that. I'm not even sure the phone can connect to two bluetooth receivers in the car.
